1000 routes and all within a 2 mile radius of the caravan park! Theres enough to keep you going all week.
A new Dorset guide, which includes Portland and Swanage was published in 2005. http://www.rockfax.com . There is also a new guide book published in 2009 from the Climbers Club.
The Isle of Portland is most famous for its quarried white stone but in recent years it has become better known to climbers as Britain’s premier sport climbing venue. The 6 km of cliff encircling the Isle have been developed with hundreds of well-bolted routes across the grade range, in a beautiful sea-cliff setting, with short walk-ins and few tide and access problems. It is the closest thing Britain has to a year-round climbing venue with a mild climate and high sunshine factor. Portland means accessible sport routes on wierd and wonderful rock formations spread over many areas. Most routes are well bolted with long life staples throughout so you can push your grade to the limit without fear.
Anyone interested should contact Mike Doyle.
